The Head of PMO is responsible for establishing, leading, and continuously improving the Project Management Office (PMO) to ensure consistent project governance, portfolio visibility, resource planning, and project controls across the organisation. This role focuses on standardising project management practices, driving operational excellence, improving project performance, and providing executive-level reporting to support strategic decision- making. The Head of PMO works closely with Project Managers, Engineering, Sales, Finance, Procurement, and Executive Leadership to ensure projects are governed effectively and aligned with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain PMO governance, policies, standards, and methodologies.
Standardise project management processes, templates, and documentation.
Conduct project health checks and governance reviews.
Maintain oversight of the project portfolio and executive reporting.
Monitor project status, milestones, risks, dependencies, budgets, and forecasts.
Oversee resource planning and utilisation.
Manage project controls, change management, and reporting.
Drive risk management, compliance, and lessons learned.
Manage PMO tools, reporting platforms, and process improvements.
Lead and mentor Project Managers and PMO staff.
Facilitate governance meetings and stakeholder communications.
Qualifications:
Education/Certifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in Business, IT, Engineering, or related field. PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner or equivalent required.
– Agile certification is desirable.
– MBA is an added advantage.
Experience:
– 8–10 years of project management experience, including at least 5 years in a PMO leadership role.
– Experience in IT, telecommunications, systems integration, or technology services preferred.
